“As each person responds differently to the same stress, so is the cause of illness symptoms different for each individual. Viruses, bacilli, pollens and food additives are with all of us all of the time. What precipitates them into producing symptoms of illness in one person and not another?” What’s Wrong with You? Dorothy Hall, p.15. Naturopathy is a natural and non-invasive therapy that maintains good health and treats ill health. It is a wholistic therapy, meaning it treats the ‘whole’ person not the disease. The aim is to keep the mind and emotions, body and lifestyle in balance. There are various triggers for disease states such as mental/emotional (anxiety, hate), physical (injury), environmental (heavy workload) and genetics. Each of these triggers need treatment and advice, and require patient co-operation. Leanne uses various diagnostic techniques such as iridology in a consultation to identify factors causing ill health. An hour-long consultation also includes a health and lifestyle assessment. Based on these, an individual remedy and treatment plan is provided. Treatment may involve dietary changes, herbal medicines, flower essences, nutritional supplements or bodywork. On average, three consultations over an eighteen-week period are needed in order to effectively gain an improvement in health. Some people may need further consultations and/or herbal formulas.
