“Research shows that diseases of almost every variety can be produced by an undersupply of various combinations of nutrients”, Lets Get Well, Adelle Davis, p.14. A good diet is necessary to maintain a healthy mind and body. Nutrition is an orchestra of many different substances that help to maintain a biochemical balance within the body. Specific nutritional substances correct or prevent imbalances within the body, thereby maintaining good health and correcting ill health. It is best to obtain vitamins and minerals from our food, but there are times when supplements may be required. Good nutrition need not be expensive or complicated, what is needed is time and effort. There is more to nutrition than the quality and type of food. The body needs to be able to effectively digest and assimilate the nutrients in foods. How we feel and what we think (attitude/emotions) has an effect upon our mental and physical body. Poor digestion and assimilation of nutrients may be caused by something as simple as worry, anger or resentment. Our body is only as good as what we feed it, whether it is food or thoughts. As a simple illustration, eczema may be cleared with vitamin B and essential fatty acids, insomnia can be helped by increasing calcium in the diet and reducing anxiety can increase energy levels. Leanne includes dietary advice in each consultation so that patients can improve and maintain their health.
